No resolutions required
A winter-paced reset is here. Stay in the stillness of the season and be surprised by what you don’t yet know.
A calm, quiet beginning is calling… and I’m reminded of a time I was certain I knew how connection was supposed to look.
Before 2020, I was adamantly against ever teaching online. It felt like an abyss into the unknown - completely out of reach. I couldn’t imagine how anyone would discover virtual events with me, nor why someone would choose an online space over being together in real life.
And isn’t it humbling how life keeps gently undoing what we were so certain of - and opening us to what we couldn’t yet imagine?
Over the past six years, thousands of people have come through my Zoom room for all kinds of study and practice. It’s been accessible to people from many walks of life, and the connections have been undeniable. Where I once imagined something vapid, I’ve found that connection online is not only possible - it’s real, unique and deep.
It goes to show that it doesn’t really matter where we find ourselves. It’s always possible to get intentional, to slow down and to be authentically you.
As another year begins, I want to gently caution against falling into old traps of resolutions and self-improvement. Instead, I’d love to offer us permission - to be messy, to not know, to set aside frantic deadlines. I’ve elaborated on why I prefer gentle intentions and surrendering to the process of the journey (as opposed to rigid goals) in a previous New Year’s post here:
As 2026 begins and others are performing, starting over, trying harder, what if you slowed down and listened for the authentic voice within? If you don’t know how to listen yet, or what it’s saying, that’s okay. With virtual teaching, I certainly didn’t know where it was leading - and it surprised me in the best way.
This is what online connections with a slow and curious momentum feel like: a quiet reprieve in the safe space of my home.
No rush-hour driving. No performative bling.
No forcing ourselves to act like it’s summer when it’s still winter.
Nothing to gain or lose. No shame.
Just a few breaths.
Just the present moment.
Simplicity is surprisingly what our strung out systems need.
And because this way of simplifying and getting authentically intentional has mattered so much to me, I continue to create space for it - one that others can step into with me.
What would it be like to begin the year this way: gently, expectation-free and in rhythm with this quiet season?
The Reset: 7 Weeks to Return to Centre is a live online series I created to support exactly this kind of beginning. Over seven Tuesday evenings, we’ll gently look back, clear what feels heavy and settle into the year ahead with a grounded pace.
Through mindfulness, somatic tools, breathwork and guided reflection, you’ll be supported in tending to your nervous system and building simple, bite-sized habits you can actually sustain. You’ll also receive a downloadable booklet that we’ll work through together. More details can be found here ->.
Starts: This Tuesday! Jan 6 – Feb 17, 2026
When: Tuesdays • 6:30–7:45pm PST
Where: Live on Zoom (recordings included)
If this kind of beginning speaks to you, you’re warmly invited.
